lost and found in a desert

i spent years in a desert to find you
now i cannot quench my thirst
my whole body drinks from you
this is not love but greed
i must have your entirety
yet you do not diminish
are you fed by me as i am fed by you?
kindling to ignite the flesh –
before i touched your body
i caressed your words in mine
breath embracing breath
vowel upon vowel
until we gave up words
for sound
