dear allen,
i sit naked on a trampoline
sweat from djembé drumming
trickles down my ass crack
i scatter marijuana across the picture of you
on the cover of your collected poems
as i imagine you
scattering leaves of grass
upon leaves of grass* –
i roll the ganja into a slow burning paper
i light the tip and invoke you
with ritual of fingers and smoke
with fugitive feelings and joyful solitude
i call your spirit to come out from the ether
the weight of the world
lifts up in your words
*Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
